Album of the Week: Systematic Chaos by Dream Theater

Well, seeing as how I’m going to a Dream Theater concert today, I thought I would talk about their latest album for this week. This progressive metal band has been around for 20 years, and is just as good as when they started. This album has some fast metal songs with blast beats and guitar shredding, and some slower, mellower songs. What I like about Dream Theater, is that; each musician in the band, has mastered the instrument they play. A lot of metal bands today, just scream at the top of their lungs in their songs, but Dream Theater can put together a track, that won’t make your ears bleed. This is a great album by them. If you’re someone who likes double bass playing and guitar shredding done well, take a look at this album. I can’t wait to see some of their songs live.

Hmm, they’re pretty good. Kinda like Muse and Coheed+Cambria mixed. I used to absolutely love aggro-rock, but now I listen to more mellow stuff, like Ben Kweller, Muse, Magnet, Ben Folds, Sufjan Stevens, stuff like that…..
