Album of the Week: Weekend in the City by Bloc Party

I saw Bloc Party back in March, and hopefully again next week, which I’m pretty excited about, seeing as how they’re going to be the main attraction of the second day of the Osheaga Festival.
This British indie/rock band has made quite a name for themselves over the past two years. Their first studio album “Silent Alarm” was released in February of 2005, which was followed by “Weekend in the City”, just two years later.
This album is one that can be played and danced to with no problem. They’re indie-like guitar playing, and crisp drumming, makes this album enjoyable to listen to, sing along to, dance to and see live. If you’re a fan of bands like; Arctic Monkeys, Interpol, Arcade Fire, The Strokes, Death Cab for Cutie, ect., than you’ll like this band and this album.
Some of their music videos:
• Hunting for Witches
• I Still Remember
• The Prayer
• Helicopter
• Banquet

Great album, and you can hear them experimenting more with sounds from the first album.
I personally think Silent Alarm ‘drives’ better than Weekend in the City though.
